As it stands, the covenants allow for the board to raise the fees on the association at their whim by 10% per year.
There are lots of other issues and problems with the covenants, but, restricting the power of the association to tap into our wallets is something that we ought to be interested in.
The proposed covenant changes that I started, and that were passed out to many homes (trying to get the rest of you, I promise!) can be downloaded from the link in the news article on the front page of the website.
We as a community have two choices - let things be as they are, and have people who take advantage (this includes people who ignore the standards because there are no penalties in them) -OR- we can work together to put some changes forward and have them adopted. Changes that, while maintaining a standard, do NOT allow groups or individuals to try to remake the subdivision into something its not.
