Time to give Thanks!

What are you thankful for this Thanksgiving Day? I can name a few things:

My wife - the single most wonderful woman in the world.
My kids - three unique and marvelous individuals who I hope I'm raising right, but with the help of my wife how can I go wrong?
Our Dog. Emma, the Golden Retriever. The sweetest pup in the world.
My Friends. I have a few. Don, are you there??
My parents, without whom I would not be the person that I am today. I thank them, and my dear departed (many years past) grandmother for instilling a deep sense of purpose in me, an unbreakable work ethic.
The United States of America - where freedom still (for a while at least!) means something.

I'll add more to this later... have to get that turkey in the oven!

That's another thing I'm thankful for - Turkey once or twice a year. I don't think I could eat turkey more than once or twice a year. Not that it's not good, but heck - there is always a ton of leftovers, so turkey ends up being a week long event.

I'm much more fond of Chicken... and I've cooked chicken on Thanksgiving more than once, much to the chagrin of my brother. Oh well.

I used to be thankful for those "Day After Thanksgiving" sales. Now? Not so much. Working retail gives you a totally different perspective on those types of sales... and beyond that, quantities are now so limited that you have to camp out Thanksgiving night just to hope to get anything.

Me? I have to go into work and be there at 4am. Doors open at 5am, and then all forms of semi-organized chaos and insanity ensues... I get to endure a 12 hour shift, and I have to be back at the store again on Satureday morning.

So, the turkey is about 2 hours away... 16lb of poultry goodness! Of course, I used mom's stuffing recipe. Hope it turns out - you can't find the Crouquetts from kellogs anymore...
